public art
I'm interested in looking at all the public art that exists on the Arboretum grounds and the thought processes/ meanings behind each - particularly looking at how the Arboretum acquires pieces, who they work with, and the role the art department and the UCD student body plays in contributing to that art.

I really like this idea. I remember the Arboretum staff mentioning a desire to work more closely with the Art department on campus and have heard of Art events being set up in the Arboretum. I think this focus has the potential to say something about the relationship between the students and artists of the campus and city community and the Arboretum.
I really like your idea especially since art classes have chosen the arboretum to install their art pieces--the stories behind them are sure to be fascinating. I think the juxtaposition of art in a setting of nature which in itself can be considered art is interesting.
sounds like a cool idea. Maybe you could make a collage of the different pieces, or map out where they are.
I think that this is a great idea. It sounds like you will be looking at the arboretum from an artistic point of view. I think it is great include student contributions into the arboretum. Do you have an idea of about how many art pieces there are at the arboretum?
there are probably a lot of photos in the library. you could sift through them and find maybe find a story you could latch on to. maybe some crazy construction or activism story.
If you talked to the Art Department now (to Ariel in the main office specifically), she might be able to put out feelers as to whether there are any plans to put on a show or performances in the arboretum this quarter. If they are, that would be an excellent element to any documentary piece in this vein.
